I discovered a neat way to add streaked fluid stains on the bottom of my Phantom:
1. Make sure the model is gloss-coated (flat coat won't work).
2. Take a black or brown fine-point rapidograph pen. Pick an area where fluids would be likely to collect (corners of panels, for instance, or the very bottom of the Phantom's engine contours).
3. Put down some small dots at a random interval. Irregularity is better.
4. Moisten your thumb - do't wet it, just moisten it.
5. Use your thumb to pull back the dots in the direction of the airflow.
6. Repeat elsewhere on the model until you're happy.
The result is a result of fine streaked areas that are totally controllable (they'll wash right off the gloss finish, if you screw up) and nice and subtle - and it's easy to do!
